Chaffinch reduction linoleum print

This portrait is inspired by the Chaffinch. I have wanted to make this bird for a while and I am really happy to add it to the series. It was most certainly not easy to make this one. Nineteen colour layers were printed for this reduction linoleum print. It is the 20th addition to my bird portraits series. This multi-layered print has all it’s colour layers cut and printed from the same block of linoleum. It involves working very focused, mistakes cannot be rectified later as there is no going back to an earlier cut of the block. Therefore it is a limited edition print run as there is no opportunity to reprint more at a later stage as the linoleum block is reduced to almost nothing after the final colour layer is printed. It is a limited edition of only 36 prints. All prints are signed and marked with their individual edition number. The extremely warm weather for this time of year slowed down the process considerably, as the ink does not work well at these temperatures.
